  • Ginseng, Common White Heart-leaved Aster and the Red-shouldered Hawk need rich, mature forests on lower slopes. To download a factsheet on birds of prey in PDF format (148 KB) click here.

  • Bicknell’s Thrush needs dense forests of stunted conifers on mountain summits.

  • The Spring and Northern Dusky Salamanders need crystal-clear mountain streams.

  • The Wood Turtle needs gravel banks located next to brooks and rivers. To download a factsheet on Wood Turtle in PDF format (595 KB) click here.
